New Strategies Defined for the Future of the 3+1 Education Model at BAUN Vocational Schools

The 3+1 Education Model, recently introduced at the vocational schools of Balıkesir University (BAUN), was reviewed during a meeting chaired by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Satıl, with the participation of the directors of the University's vocational schools.

During the meeting, plans to enhance the effectiveness of the model were evaluated. It was emphasized that an education process aligned with the expectations of the business sector expands employment opportunities for graduates. Decisions were made regarding the implementation process to ensure the model operates more efficiently and contributes more effectively to graduate employability.

Within this framework, it was decided that students participating in the Workplace Vocational Training program will begin their workplace training on 16 February 2026, with all activities carried out in accordance with the relevant university regulations. It was also agreed that both the Workplace Vocational Training process and exemption procedures will be conducted based on the University's directive. To ensure an objective assessment of the knowledge, skills, and competencies of students applying for exemptions, a Workplace Vocational Training Assessment Examination will be introduced. These examinations will be administered by the relevant academic units through practical and/or written assessment methods, in accordance with the decisions of the Workplace Vocational Training Adaptation (Exemption) Commission.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of completing occupational health and safety training, insurance procedures, and student orientation processes in full before students begin their workplace vocational training. In addition, participants discussed the development of an online module by the University's Information Technology Department to facilitate a more effective and systematic management of the Workplace Vocational Training and exemption processes.
